Box Score LAKE WALES, FLA.-- Southeastern and Warner have played a total of five games against each other this season. The Fire have won all of them. On Tuesday afternoon, Southeastern beat Warner by a score of 5-2.
The Royals (24-22) scratched a run across in the bottom of the first off of Fire starter
Cole Yoder (4-2). After that, both teams were held scoreless until the sixth inning.
In the top of the sixth,
Chris Mattison knocked in
Derek Martin with a RBI groundout to tie the game at one. Warner was able to get their lead back with a run in the bottom of the inning.
The Fire were finally able to break through in the seventh. Southeastern struck for three runs after RBIs by
Diego Perez,
Angel Garced, and Martin.
Southeastern got an insurance run in the ninth when
Mike D'Acunti knocked in Perez.
With the win, Southeastern improves to 31-17. Yoder went eight strong innings and gave up two runs (one earned). The lefty scattered six hits and three walks and struck out two. Mattison pitched a clean ninth inning to earn his third save of the season.
Martin finished 2-5 with a double, a run, and an RBI. Garced, Perez, and
Aaron Sheaks all recorded multi-hit games as well.
Conference play will continue Friday evening; Southeastern will go to Babson Park for a three-game series against the Webber International University Warriors.
