LAKELAND, FLA.-- It's been an incredible season for
Lindsie Scholwinski. After shutting out Keiser yesterday, the lefty sparkled on Sunday afternoon by throwing two more shutouts to lead the Fire to 5-0 and 4-0 victories over Sun Conference rival St. Thomas.
The junior scattered seven hits and struck out five in game one, and threw a one-hit gem of a shutout in game two.
Sydnie Malloy got the scoring started in the bottom of the second in game one, as the shortstop ripped a double to score
Sammy Jacobson.
Cheyenne Blaha drove in another in the next inning with a sacrifice fly.
Another RBI by Malloy made it 3-0 in the fifth, and the lead increased to five in the sixth when
Heather Faulk scored on a Bobcats error and another RBI by Blaha.
In game two, the Fire gave Scholwinski an early lead after
Taylor Stoltz and
Bri Girardin scored on Bobcats miscues.
Scholwinski held the Bobcats hitless through 3.1 innings before St. Thomas recorded its lone hit of the game; and even then, the baserunner was picked off by
Brandee Pietrzak to end the inning.
In the fifth, Jacobson scored on a St. Thomas error and Malloy drove in one more with a sacrifice fly to make it a 4-0 game.
Scholwinski was absolutely dominant. She faced one over the minimum number of batters (22) on her way to striking out three.
With the sweep, Southeastern improves to 36-10 and are still sporting a 10-0 record in conference play. They will go to Babson Park on Friday afternoon for another Sun Conference doubleheader at Webber International.
