THOMASVILLE, Ga.—Southeastern fell to 2-1 in conference play with a 3-1 loss at Thomas to close out its first weekend series.
The Fire (12-6) managed just one run on five hits off of Thomas hurler Neal Hunter, who struck out just two over eight innings, but got 11 SEU hitters to fly out.
An RBI single by
Luis Diaz in the top of the third gave the Fire a 1-0 lead. The Night Hawks answered back in the bottom of the inning, scoring on an error with two outs.
A sixth inning RBI double and a seventh inning RBI double gave the hosts the win.
Cole Yoder took the loss, working seven innings, allowing three runs on 11 hits, struck out two, walked none, and coaxed six groundouts.
The Fire return to action on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for a non-conference game at Webber International.
