The weather has not been kind to the Fire football team this year. The last three home games have been delayed, shortened, or postponed by lightning.

Unable to fit the game in during a thunderstorm Saturday night, Southeastern and Edward Waters will try again Tuesday night. This will mark the first home weekday game in program history.

The fans who stuck out nearly three-hours in delays a week ago were treated to quite a college football game last Saturday (and part of Sunday) in Lakeland.

When the dust settled, and Tyson Kee intercepted a DJ Davis pass in the end zone on the second possession of the third overtime at 1:30 a.m., the Fire came away with a 52-44 victory in their first Sun Conference game of the year.

They will look to keep that momentum going into their second league game of the year against Edward Waters College.

EWC comes in with an 0-4 record, but has played three NCAA teams, including FCS member Jacksonville University. Most recently, the Tigers dropped their opening Sun Conference game at home to Point 23-20. The Tigers held a 20-10 lead with 14:41 left in the third quarter, following a 45-yard fumble returned for a touchdown.

Point came back with an 8-yard touchdown run with 7:37 to go in the third, then chewed up 5:05 of the fourth quarter on an 11-play, 70-yard drive that ended in a 1-yard touchdown run with 1:49 to play.

The Tigers "Wyatt-bone" offense has shown an additional element this year with a passing attack that leads The Sun Conference at 209.5 yards per game. Additionally, the Tigers' defense is atop The Sun Conference leaderboard, holding opponents to 353.8 yards per game.

That group will face off against the conference's top scoring defense, and No. 2 overall defense, giving up 24.7 points and 372 total yards per game. The Fire defense also leads the conference in sacks with nine.

The Southeastern offense relies on the services of two-time All-Sun Conference back Jarrell Reynolds, who set a Sun Conference record with 385 yards rushing and six touchdowns the last time he faced Edward Waters at Victory Field.

The Fire boast an all-time record of 9-2 in Sun Conference play, and are unbeaten at home in league play.

Gates open at 5 p.m. to the general public and at 5:15 to students. For tickets, visit SEUFire.com/tickets.
