Lake Wales, Fla. – The (RV) Southeastern women's soccer team earned its eighth shutout of the season as the Fire defeated the Warner University Royals 5-0 on the road.
The Fire did not take long to get things started, as senior forward
Alyssa Kaminski netted her tenth goal of the season in the second minute of play. Senior midfielder
Rebecca Reynolds earned the assist on the score.
SEU kept its rhythm going with freshman forward
Uchenna Kanu finding the back of the net off a pass from fellow freshman
Konya Plummer in the 12
th minute. With scores in back to back games, Kanu has scored in every game of her collegiate career thus far.
The Fire capped off a stellar first half with a goal from freshman defender
Abby Leake that was fed on a pass by freshman forward
Rachel Wallace. The score was the first of Leake's collegiate career.
Southeastern took a 3-0 lead into the half after having outshot the Royals 16-1.
The Fire added to its lead in the 62
nd minute a dazzling play from
Konya Plummer. The Jamaica native flicked a ball over the Warner goalkeeper from about 30 yards out.
Uchenna Kanu then netted her second goal of the game in the 73
rd minute which proved to be the final score of the game.
29 different players earned minutes for the Fire in the win.
"We were able to get a lot of players minutes in the match and everybody contributed. That's going to pay off dividends as we go into this tough slate of rescheduled games," shared Head Coach
Randy Belli.
With the win, the Fire improved to 10-1 on the season. SEU is one win away from matching its highest season win total in the past six seasons.
Southeastern will continue Sun Conference play as the Fire host Webber International University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
