WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—Southeastern fell to 2-4 in Sun Conference play with a 3-1 loss on the road to Keiser.
The Fire (9-7) held a 9-6 lead in the first set, thanks to a 4-0 run that saw Keiser commit a pair of attacking errors, and Uche Kojo came up with a block and a kill. However, the Seahawks countered with an 8-3 run to regain the lead, and held off the guests for the final 20 rallies to come away with a 25-21 win.
Keiser (12-4, 3-3) ripped off a quick six points to start the second set, three coming on aces to cruise to a 25-20 win in the second.
Southeastern scored the first three points of the third set, but the Seahawks again answered with a 7-2 run to regain the lead. The Fire regained the lead, and pushed it back to three on a kill by
Amy Schermerhorn, an ace from
Kelsey Morton, and another block by Kojo.
The set closed on a 5-0 run, giving the Fire a 25-21 victory, capitalizing on four errors by the Seahawks.
However, the Fire were unable to continue the momentum into the fourth set, dropping a 25-19 decision that saw Keiser hit .379 with 15 kills.
The Fire were led by
Kaitlin Boyd and Kojo with eight kills each. Kojo added four blocks, while Morton and Boyd had four each.
Alyssa Prescott had a team-best 12 digs, and
Natalie Anderson dished out 17 assists.
The Fire return to action at home on Wednesday against Warner at 7 p.m.
