LAKELAND, Fla.—A slow start was tough to rebound from for the Fire volleyball team in a 3-0 loss to Warner Wednesday night.
Southeastern committed 10 errors in the first set with a -.133 attacking percentage in a 25-17 loss. Despite the lack of hitting, the Fire still had chances in the first set in a 13-13 tie until the Royals pulled away with a 5-0 run.
Things got better during the second set, raising the attacking percentage to .231, but only had eight kills on just 26 attacks during the set, suffering another 25-17 loss.
The Fire (9-8, 2-5 TSC) generated 12 kills and a .242 attacking percentage in the third set, and had an 18-17 lead. However, Warner (9-4, 5-2 TSC) ended the match with a 7-2 run.
Southeastern failed to have a player in double figures in kills.
Kaitlin Boyd and
Kelsey Morton tied for the team lead with six each.
Alyssa Prescott had a game-high 13 digs.
Lindsey Fleming dished out nine of SEU's 24 assists.
