ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Christin Strawbridge propelled Southeastern women's basketball over NCAA Division II Flagler College this evening, 73-65 with her third consecutive double-double performance of the season.
Strawbridge recorded 21 points, 17 rebounds and was an impressive 8-for-13 from the field. She was tied for first amongst all scorers in points while also recording three assists, two blocks and a steal.
The Fire were down 19-14 at the end of the first quarter, but Lauren Wilson came off the bench scoring four straight to narrow the deficit to one. Shots were traded for the majority of the quarter with the Fire never surpassing a five point lead.
With 11 seconds to play in the half and a knotted score, Bailey Hooker sunk her second long ball of the night to take a three point lead at the buzzer, 34-31.
Flagler regained the lead up 37-36 with six minutes to play in the third and maintained through the remainder of the quarter, but the Fire had different plans in the fourth.
Strawbridge kicked things off with an offensive rebound and put-back to give the Fire a 47-46 lead. The score was tied at 49 with 7:38 to play but the Fire continued to push to realize their largest lead up 10, 73-63 with just 10 seconds to play.
The Saints scored in the final three seconds to put the final score on the board.
Following Strawbridge in points was Hooker with 18, Alyssa Ramos with 12, and Kristen Scholl with 11. As a team, the Fire shot 46%, 78% from the line and recorded 44 total rebounds to the Saints' 33.
The Fire will take the court again on Friday afternoon against Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
