Box Score

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire advanced to 9-4 this evening with a win over the Lakers of Silver Lake College, 73-45.

In the first nine minutes the Fire saw their only deficit, down 4-2 at the 17:30 mark, and three tie scores until Bailey Hooker hit a three pointer to go up 16-13 with 10:29 on the clock.

The Fire maintained the lead until the final buzzer, stretching it to 30 after a 23-6 run to go up 66-36 with just over five minutes to play.

Alyssa Ramos led the Fire in scoring with 22 while Cassidy Block recorded her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Bailey Hooker was also a double digit contributor with 13 points.

"We executed much better in the second half and that was one of our goals," said Coach Jody Martinez. "Overall, I was really pleased to get a good team win before a big conference game."

A quick turnaround puts the Fire up against conference opponent Northwood University tomorrow evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
