Box Score

LAKELAND, FLA.– The Southeastern University Fire have jumped out to a 2-0 record under new coach Jody Martinez, their second victory coming against the William Carey University Crusaders (1-1) by a score of 57-45. The Fire were the first to score early in the game and never looked back, as they led the game from the opening minute.

SEU was able to keep a small lead for the majority of the game. Their largest lead of the night extended to 13 points early in the second half.

Under Martinez, the Fire have been given the green light early and often from the 3-point line, as they have drained 34 3-pointers in only the first two games of the season. On Thursday night, Bailey Hooker led the offensive charge for the Fire (2-0). She finished with 16 points, two rebounds, an assist, and a block. Sophomore Alyssa Ramos finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Seniors Emma Loucks and Hannah Demarest had impressive games as well. Loucks added 10 points, three rebounds, and five assists while Demarest led the way for the Fire on the defensive end with 8 rebounds, five steals, and a block.

The Fire are on the road next week, as they'll travel up next Saturday to Brunswick, Ga. to take on The College of Coastal Georgia. Their next home game won't be until December 4.
