Box Score TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Fire connected on 47% from beyond the arc to remain undefeated with a 102-60 victory over Florida College; their second win over the Falcons this season.
Bailey Hooker hit the first of the team's 22 three-pointers to begin the scoring, sealing a lead for the Fire that they maintained the rest of the game.
The Falcons would come as close as two with 9:47 to play in the first, but the Fire answered with a 27-5 run to go up 43-19 at the 3:14 mark.
The trend would continue in the second half with the Fire realizing a 44 point lead, their largest of the game, with 1:41 to play.
Bailey Hooker and Alyssa Ramos led the Fire in scoring, each registering 20 points, while Kristen Scholl contributed 19. Tiara Young and Carlie Newman led in rebounds with eight apiece. The game high six assists also belonged to Young.
"Tonight was a great game in that we were able to play the whole team almost equal minutes and have confidence in everyone to do their best," said Coach Jody Martinez. "Florida College did a great job of controlling the tempo early, but our depth of talent showed as the game went on."
The Fire move to 4-0 and hit the road to Saint Leo on Thursday. The tipoff of the exhibition game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
