ROME, Ga.--The Fire women's tennis team fell short versus Shorter College, Thursday afternoon, losing 9-0 in a non-conference out of state match. No. 15 Shorter became the fifth ranked NAIA opponent SEU has faced this year, as the Lady Fire is now 0-5 versus NAIA Top 25 teams on the season.
Senior, Chelsey Lynn, battled in the No. 1 singles position, falling 6-3, 6-2 to Candice Laurent.
Heather Ericksen took Katie Witner to the wire before eventually losing, 6-3, 6-1.
Kristina Wisor, Wendy Reade, and Lexus Potts all lost their matches 6-0, 6-0. Stephanie Dodd managed to earn a win in singles play, losing 6-1, 6-0 to Tesh Holton.
In exhibition singles first-year player Raimey Carlton won her match for the Fire 8-1.
Southeastern now falls to 2-8 on the year.
