In August of 2018, Rocky Stinson was hired as the second head softball coach in Southeastern University history.
Stinson has spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Tennessee Wesleyan, where he coached hitting and outfield, helping the Bulldogs win 40 games, and go 30-14 in conference play.
"Rocky will continue the winning tradition of Fire softball by investing in his student-athletes on the field and in academics," said Watson. "He has shown the ability throughout his career to develop character in his players, in part, by cultivating positive relationships that remain impactful long after they graduate."
Prior to TWU, Stinson was the head coach at Bryan College, where he started the program. He built the team from a six-win first season to a 31-win campaign in the fourth season, advancing to the final game of the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
"It's exciting to take over a program that has a good foundation, and has a young team with a lot of potential," said Stinson. "It's a department that has a plan of not just winning, but making sure students succeed with their academics and in their personal lives."
In 2015, Stinson was voted as the Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, as Bryan finished as the regular season as co-champions.
Stinson also served as the AAC Softball Chair for two seasons. He coached at Mid-Continent University for three seasons, winning three NCCAA Mid-East Championships.
