Ashley Prange joins the staff as an assistant coach. Prange, a native of New Palestine, Indiana, spent the first three years of her collegiate playing career at Ohio State before transferring to Alabama, where she was a two-time First Team All-SEC selection for the Crimson Tide. In addition to All-SEC honors, Prange was also recognized as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team member in 2023.
In her first season with Alabama (2022), she led the Tide in home runs (8), runs (40) and walks (30), while ranking second in batting average (.340) and hits (49) and third in RBI (27).
In the 2023 season, the third baseman led Alabama to an NCAA Women’s College World Series berth and was the team leader in batting average (.320), home runs (16), runs (46) and walks (38), while ranking second in hits (58) and RBI (46).
Prior to her collegiate playing career, Prange was the 2018 Indiana Gatorade Softball Player of the Year. She then went on to start 103 games at Ohio State from 2019-21. She was a member of the 2019 Big Ten All-Freshman Team and earned Academic All-Big 10 in 2020.
In addition to her storied playing career, Ashley is also an “I Am Second” ambassador, with “I Am Second,” a ministry devoted to helping believers in Christ focus on sharing the gospel message of living second through the use of media and storytelling. As an ambassador, Ashley has been able to share her story of hope in Jesus Christ with athletes across the country.
Prange began her coaching career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the spring of 2024. Prior to joining the UAB staff, she played professionally with the Florida Vibe in the summer of 2023.
She works primarily with SEU hitters and infielders in addition to her responsibilities with recruiting. She will also be a tremendous addition to the staff through discipleship and mentoring of student- athletes at SEU.
