Biography
SOPHOMORE (2025-26): Fernandez continues to build on his ever-growing resume with the Fire. Turning in a 12-3 singles record and a 12-4 doubles record. He ranked as high as No. 16 in singles, and as high as No. 18 in doubles with Pedro De La Riva. He put together a 10 match winning streak as the Fire returned to the NAIA National Semifinal. His most impressive singles win came in a 6-1, 6-4 upset of No. 26 Matej Laibl from Keiser. His season long efforts were rewarded with a second-consecutive First-Team All-Sun Conference selection. He was equally successful in the classroom, earning Sun Conference All-Academic and NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athlete selections.
FRESHMAN (2024-25): Fernandez made an impressive impact in his first season with Southeastern. Spending his time on the five and six courts in singles, and the second flight in doubles. His singles record amounted to a spectacular 13-3, and with collected a 11-4 record at doubles flight two with Javier Gallego, finishing the season as the #49 doubles team in the NAIA. He aided the historic come-from-behind 4-3 win over #3 Keiser, the Fire’s first ever, and the Seahawks first-ever conference loss. At the NAIA National Championship, he secured the first trip to the Quarterfinals, notching a three-set victory on line six over #12 Cumberland University (Tenn.), 6-2, 5-7, 6-3. The win claimed a 4-3 match victory for the Fire. Twice he was named Sun Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week. And was named the Sun Conference Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Year, and First-Team All-Sun Conference.
