Martinez joins the Fire coaching staff after spending five seasons as a member of the Fire men's tennis team.

During the 2023 season, Martinez posted an 11-7 singles record including a five-match win streak to begin the season. In doubles play, Martinez posted a 13-6 overall record and helped propel the Fire to an 8-5 overall record and trip to the NAIA National Championship quarterfinal match.
