Adams came to Southeastern in 2016 after spending the last three years in Arkansas at Ouachita Baptist University.
During his first year as the Fire defensive coordinator, Adams helped SEU go 7-3 and earn a trip to the NAIA Football Championship Series for the first time in program history. His defense was a big part of the reason the team claimed The Sun Conference championship, leading the league in scoring defense (18.8 ppg), rushing defense (87.6 ypg), 3rd down conversion rate (26.9%), 4th down conversion rate (17.6%), and sacks per game (3.7). Nationally, the Fire were third against the run, and ninth in total defense (304.1 ypg).

Mark Myers and Tyson Kee were named to the All-Sun Conference First-Team, with Blade Denmark, Josh Schulte, and Will Tillo earned Second-Team recognition.
Adams boasts 13 years of coaching experience, spanning among four different universities, and three Kansas junior colleges. During his time as a coach, his teams have achieved an overall record of 99-35 and are 54-20 since beginning as a Defensive Coordinator.
During his coaching career, Adams has coached in the NAIA Football Championship Series, and advanced to the National Championship games in 2003.
The 2015 OBU Defense finished the season allowing 24 points per game; good for fourth in the GAC, and boasted two All-Conference defensive backs.
In 2014, the OBU Defense finished second in scoring defense at 18.2 points per game and third in rush defense at 131.7 yards per game in the regular season. OBU produced two  All-Americans in Zach Mitchell and Etaju Allen.
In 2013, the OBU Defense finished third in scoring defense at 24.4 points per game and was also third in total defense, allowing 347 yards per game. The team was second in pass defense (212 ypg), fourth in rush defense (135 ypg), and second in sacks with 24. Antowian Patterson led the GAC in sacks.Â
At Hutchinson Community College, Adams oversaw the No. 2 rushing defense, No. 2 total defense, and No. 2 scoring defense in 2012. Hutchinson went 9-3 and was the Salt City Bowl Champions.
In 2008, Adams was hired at 29 years of age as the Defensive Coordinator at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where they played for and won the CSFL Conference Championship twice, and went to the NAIAÂ
playoffs twice.
The 2008 defense ranked fourth against the pass, eighth against the run, fifth in total defense, and 11th in scoring defense. In the final NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the Rangers were 10th.Â
The 2009 defense ranked first in the CSFL in rushing defense at just 75 yards per game, and were ninth in the final ranking. Adams coached Defensive Player of the Year Lantz Mathers, as well as six All-Conference players.
There were also 12 Academic All-Conference players and three All-Americans.
The 2010 defense finished the season 8-3 and fifth in rush defense. Once again, they were ranked in the Top 15, checking in at No. 13.Â
Prior to his time at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Adams was the Recruiting Coodinator and defensive line coach at Fort Scott Community College from 2006 to 2007, going 7-5 in 2006 and playing for a conference championship for the first time in 15 years.
The team also played in back-to- back bowl games for the first time in 12 years, and went 9-3 in 2007.
At Central Missouri State University, Adams served as the safeties restricted earnings coach, going 9-3 with the top defense in the MIAA. At Coffeyville Community College, Adams served as the Defensive Line Coach and Resident Assistant, assisting the Red Ravens to a 10-2 record, and a final ranking of third with a victory in the Valley of the Sun Bowl.
