LAKELAND, Fla. — Southeastern University men's soccer delivered a dominant performance Wednesday night, cruising past Ave Maria University, 6-0, at SEU Soccer Field. Earning Head Coach, Gabriel Sitibaldi his 100th Career Win, and pushing the Fire to their best season start in program history.
The Fire wasted little time establishing control, putting pressure on the Gyrenes early and opening the scoring in the 15th minute. Pablo Labon sent a cross to Thomas Hardouin who found the back of the net for his third goal of the season.
Southeastern continued to apply pressure and doubled its lead in the 28th minute when Koren Klein converted a free kick for his seventh goal of the season. Just 90 seconds later, Klein struck again, completing his brace off an assist from goalkeeper Noah Murray-Hawkins to push the Fire ahead 3-0.
The Fire carried the three-goal advantage into halftime after an impressive opening 45 minutes in which Southeastern registered 14 shots and four corner kicks.
Southeastern wasted no time extending its lead after the break. In the 49th minute, Fabio De Paula scored his third goal of the season, finishing off an assist from Adam Cooil to make it 4-0.
The offensive onslaught continued in the 60th minute when Fabian Perez recorded his first goal of the season, giving the Fire a five-goal cushion.Southeastern added one more in the 77th minute, as Lennard Schneider scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Ethan Otto, completing the scoring at 6-0.
The Fire's defense was equally impressive throughout the evening, limiting Ave Maria to just five shots and three shots on goal. Murray-Hawkins made two saves over 81 minutes before Artur Buluakin entered late and recorded one save to preserve the shutout. Southeastern finished the night with a commanding 29-5 advantage in shots, including 16-3 in shots on goal, while also holding an 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
With the victory, Southeastern improves to 7-1-1 on the season, while Ave Maria falls to 6-4.
