LAKELAND, Fla. — Southeastern University Football continued their undefeated start to the 2026 season Saturday night, defeating the University of Fort Lauderdale, 45-14, at Victory Field to improve to 3-0.

The Fire jumped out to an early lead when Zach Pleuss connected with Omar Mejia for a 47-yard touchdown on SEU's opening drive. After UFTL tied the game in the second quarter, Pleuss found Rick Penick for two touchdowns, while Joel McGrath added a 48-yard field goal to give the Fire a 24-14 halftime lead.

SEU pulled away in the second half, scoring three unanswered touchdowns. Colton Dempsey added a five-yard rushing touchdown, Pleuss connected with Tre McClellan for a 20-yard score, and Nathan Carter capped the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown run.

Pleuss turned in a record-setting performance, completing 32 of 44 passes for 360 yards and four touchdowns. His 32 completions and 360 passing yards both set new SEU single-game records, while his 44 attempts surpassed the previous single-game mark.

McClellan also made his mark in the record book, hauling in 11 receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown to tie the SEU single-game record for receptions.

The Fire defense held UFTL to 183 total yards and forced two turnovers. Jermaine Tyler Jr. recorded his fourth interception of the season, while Jamil Jones added a blocked field goal.

SEU moves to 3-0 on the season and will look to continue its perfect start in its next matchup on October 3rd against Florida Memorial.
