Men's Soccer Falls To Campbellsville 3-2

DALTON, Ga. — The Southeastern men's soccer team fell to Campbellsville (Ky.), 3-2, Saturday afternoon in a neutral-site matchup.

The Fire (1-1) struck first in the fifth minute when Koren Klein found the back of the net off an assist from Pablo Lobon, giving Southeastern an early 1-0 advantage.

Campbellsville answered in the 13th minute as Ollie Jagroop scored off an assist from Izan Garcia Gancedo to even the match at 1-1. Garcia Gancedo then converted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

Southeastern came out aggressively in the second half, generating several opportunities and earning six corner kicks. However, Campbellsville extended its advantage in the 67th minute when Alessandro Martinez scored to make it 3-1.

The Fire continued to battle and cut the deficit to one in the 76th minute. Lobon scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Miguel Londono, bringing Southeastern within 3-2.

Southeastern continued to pressure Campbellsville down the stretch, earning two more corner kicks in the final 10 minutes, but the Tigers held on for the victory.

Lobon finished with a goal and an assist, while Klein also scored for the Fire. Southeastern registered 10 shots, including seven on goal, and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks in the second half. Noah Murray-Hawkins made three saves in goal for Southeastern.

The Fire return to action in their next scheduled match.
