Harrell Tapped to Lead Fire Athletic Communications

Harrell interviews Amanda Phelps last season for the Sun Digital Network

LAKELAND, Fla. – Southeastern University Director of Athletics, Drew Watson, announced today that Reagan Harrell has been hired as Athletic Communications Director.

Harrell, a seasoned sports media professional and content creator, steps into the director role with an extensive background in multimedia production, play-by-play broadcasting, and high-impact social media strategy within collegiate athletics.

"Reagan is a proven commodity in the digital world of athletics who will bring an outside-the-box approach to his first on-campus role," said Watson. "I am confident that his experience, creativity, and eagerness to grow will combine well with the more traditional elements of athletic communications and take our department to the next level."

Harrell most recently served as the social media manager and show host for The Sun Conference, a role he stepped into in August 2025 after delivering three years of independent coverage. While managing the conference's Instagram platform and its livestream network, the Urban Edge Network (UEN), Harrell spearheaded unprecedented digital engagement. Under his management, The Sun Conference Instagram account accumulated over 18 million views and gained 3,750 new followers in less than a year. Furthermore, his efforts helped establish the conference's livestream presence as one of the strongest in the NAIA.

"I'm grateful to SEU President, Dr. Kent Ingle, and Drew Watson for presenting me with this amazing opportunity," said Harrell. "I look forward to working daily with Brittney Kellar and Ethan Sullivan to continue to raise the bar in Fire Athletics. Southeastern University is the standard for small college athletics on and off the field. My wife and I are excited to join the Fire Family and help set a new standard for athletic communications in the NAIA, while continuing to build on the phenomenal foundation that was established by those before me. Go Fire!"

In addition to his conference-level achievements, Harrell is the president, head of content, and host of NAIA SB, a premier digital platform he founded in July 2022 to cover NAIA softball. Under his guidance, the outlet became the most-watched and downloaded college softball podcast in the United States for back-to-back seasons starting in 2024.

Harrell graduated in May 2024 from Webber International University (WIU), earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Sport Management. His leadership on campus was evident both on and off the field; he was a team-voted, two-year captain of the WIU football team from 2022 to 2023.

During his time at Webber, Harrell worked as a Student and Graduate Assistant from January 2022 onward, serving as the primary play-by-play broadcaster across a wide array of sports, including baseball, softball, football, volleyball, basketball, flag football, and soccer. He was responsible for producing pre-game notes, post-game coach and player interviews, and digital marketing graphics.

Reagan and his wife, Sydney, reside in Frostproof, Florida.
