LAKELAND, Fla. – All things went the way of No. 4 SEU Women's Tennis this afternoon, as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over the No. 24 Oakland City Mighty Oaks.
Doubles played out, and singles played to clinch.
Southeastern left no doubt in doubles as to what the mindset was for the day.
Martina Picardi and
Alessia Ciampi handed Tiana Sparks and Maria Trembach a 6-2 loss on flight one.
Irene Parigi and
Isabella Bolivar Garces did the same to Silvia Pradilla and Berta Ladaga Auge on flight two, and
Leonie Schondelmaier and
Aurora Compagnucci ground out a 7-5 win on the third flight.
With the match's initial point secured, the Fire dominated in singles. Schondelmaier made quick work of Sparks on line three, securing a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Garces followed soon after with a confident 6-1, 6-1 win on line two over Auge.
The decider came on line four at the hands of Ciampi, delivering a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win over Melissa de Jong.
Southeastern led on every other court when the match was called, with lines five and six close to conclusion and line one still in the first set. Parigi was up 6-2, 4-1, Compagnucci controlled line six 6-1, 5-1, and Picardi was in a tight 6-6 (5-2) contest with Pradilla on line one.
Now 5-2, and winning their fourth straight, the Fire return to the USTA Tennis Complex to battle Midland at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
