About the Fire
SEU enters the week at 2–0 overall and 2–0 at home, carrying a perfect 1.000 winning percentage. The Fire have yet to play a conference contest but have already shown balance and depth in their early outings. With a W2 streak and a clean start at home, SEU looks to extend its early-season success.
Nationally, the Fire have made an immediate statistical statement. SEU ranks second in the NAIA in on-base percentage (.547), fifth in batting average (.442), seventh in slugging percentage (.692), and 10th in home runs.
In the circle, the Fire sit seventh in WHIP (1.00) and 37th in ERA (2.92), while holding opponents to a .234 batting average. Those numbers reflect a lineup producing runs and a pitching staff limiting damage.
At the Plate
Raylei McKinney has been a catalyst at the plate, hitting .625 with five hits in eight at-bats, including three doubles and four RBIs. Her ability to drive the ball into the gaps has helped set the tone offensively, and she has been efficient in limited opportunities.
Ella Brooks has added spark, batting .600 with four runs scored and three stolen bases. She pairs patience with speed, posting a .714 on-base percentage while consistently creating pressure on opposing defenses.
Hailey Bradley and
Lauren Sekinger have provided steady production in the middle of the order. Bradley is hitting .500 with a .667 OBP, while Sekinger owns a .429 average and has already driven in two runs.
Power has also surfaced in the lineup.
Jaidyn Fuller has homered and driven in a run, while
Erica Ramsey and
Chelsi Rae' Hebert have each made the most of limited at-bats with perfect batting averages and home run power.
In the Circle
Maria Zelenka has been dominant, tossing three scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and allowing just one hit. Her 0.00 ERA and command in the zone have anchored the staff early.
Edan Playa has complemented that effort with a 2.80 ERA across five innings, earning a win while limiting opponents to a .167 average.
Emma Vickers has also contributed quality innings in relief, helping maintain control of games when called upon. Together, the pitching group has combined for a 1.00 WHIP and strong early efficiency.
Series History
Southeastern enters the week with favorable history against two of its three opponents. The Fire hold a 26–13 all-time series lead over Thomas, winning eight of the last 10 meetings and frequently defending home field with doubleheader sweeps, though Thomas edged the most recent 2025 matchup by one run. SEU is also unbeaten against Abraham Baldwin at 2–0 all-time after sweeping a 2025 twin bill in Lakeland. The Mobile series has been the tightest of the three, with the Rams holding a narrow 5–4 all-time edge in a rivalry often decided by one run or extra innings, including Mobile winning the last three close contests.
Looking Ahead
SEU hits the road next week for a pair of doubleheaders in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, with all games set to be played at William Carey's Joseph & Nancy Fail Field. The Fire will meet Faulkner on Friday, February 20 at 4 p.m. EST in a neutral-site twin bill before returning Saturday, February 21 at 1 p.m. EST to face host William Carey. The trip marks SEU's first games away from Lakeland this season and provides an early road test against strong non-conference competition.
