Fire Set for Key Sun Conference Tests This Week

LAKELAND, Fla. -- No. 25 Southeastern Women's Basketball continues its Sun Conference slate this week with two key matchups as the Fire close out the month of January. SEU will travel to Brunswick, Ga., on Wednesday, for a 5:30 p.m. road contest at Coastal Georgia before returning home on Saturday, to host Webber International at 5 p.m. inside The Furnace.

Both games will be available live through the Urban Edge Network, with coverage accessible via the Urban Edge Network App on smart TVs and mobile devices, as well as through online streaming options. Fans can also follow live stats and additional coverage throughout the week.

The Fire enter the week with an 18–3 overall record and an 8–1 mark in Sun Conference play. Southeastern has won four straight games and has been especially strong at home, posting a 12–1 record at The Furnace this season, while also going 4–1 on the road and 2–1 at neutral sites.

Southeastern continues to rank among the NAIA's elite offensively, averaging 78.5 points per game while shooting 47.4 percent from the field. The Fire lead the nation in three-point shooting at 38.2 percent and rank fifth nationally at the free-throw line at 77.5 percent. SEU also averages 18.0 assists per game, highlighting a balanced, efficient offensive attack.

Defensively, the Fire have been just as dominant, allowing only 54.8 points per contest to rank among the NAIA's best in scoring defense. Opponents are held to 37.4 percent shooting from the floor and just 27.3 percent from three-point range. Southeastern forces more than 22 turnovers per game, averages 12.0 steals, and carries a +23.8 scoring margin.

From a national postseason perspective, Southeastern remains well positioned for NAIA qualification and seeding. The Fire are ranked No. 39 in the NAIA RPI, highlighted by a 2–3 record in Quad 1 games and a perfect 3–0 mark in Quad 2 contests. SEU also sits No. 31 in the Massey Ratings, strengthening its national resume as postseason selection approaches.

Grace Field has been one of the most complete players in the NAIA this season, anchoring Southeastern on both ends of the floor. Field ranks second in the conference in total points (309) and fourth in scoring at 14.7 points per game while shooting 58.6 percent from the field. She leads the conference in total rebounds (197) and defensive rebounds (144) and ranks second in rebounds per game (9.4), while also placing among the top three in assists, steals, and blocks.

Mya Herman leads the Fire in scoring at 17.4 points per game, ranking second in the Sun Conference. Herman combines volume with efficiency, shooting better than 53 percent from the field and over 43 percent from three-point range.

Alley Haas has emerged as the Sun Conference's most efficient perimeter shooter, leading the league at 43.9 percent from three-point range and playing a key role in Southeastern's nation-leading team percentage from deep.

Sarah Davis adds shooting depth, ranking fourth in the conference at 38.0 percent from beyond the arc and providing consistent production off the bench.

Mafalda Chambel directs the Fire offense and leads the Sun Conference in assists at 4.6 per game, setting the tempo and helping maintain Southeastern's offensive efficiency.

Coastal Georgia enters Wednesday's matchup with a 15–6 overall record and a 5–4 mark in conference play. The Mariners average 85.2 points per game and rely heavily on perimeter volume, making over 10 three-pointers per contest. Coastal Georgia also applies defensive pressure, averaging 17.0 steals per game, with Abby Shepard, Taylor Blackshear, and Niya Moon leading a balanced scoring attack.

Southeastern has dominated the all-time series with Coastal Georgia, owning a 20–0 record dating back to the first meeting in 2014. The Fire have won the last 10 meetings, including a 107–81 victory earlier this season, with eight of those wins coming by double digits.

Webber International enters the week at 9–10 overall and 4–5 in Sun Conference play but comes in playing its best basketball, riding a six-game winning streak and going 9–1 over its last 10 games. The Warriors are led by Jaiden Ross (12.7 ppg) and Camryn Patterson, who anchors the interior with rebounding, playmaking, and rim protection.

Southeastern has also held the upper hand in its long-running series with Webber, owning a 29–14 all-time advantage since the first meeting in 2001. The Fire have won nine of the last 10 matchups, including an 89–43 road win earlier this season on January 3, and enter Saturday's contest having won six straight in the series.

SEU continues Sun Conference play next week with another road-and-home stretch. The Fire travel to Miami Gardens, Florida, on Wednesday, February 4, for a 5:30 p.m. matchup at St. Thomas University before returning to Lakeland on Saturday, February 7, to host Keiser University at 5 p.m. inside The Furnace.
