Balanced Attack Lifts Fire Past Warner

SEU places five in double figures to improve to 16–2

LAKELAND, Fla. -- SEU Men's Basketball put together a complete offensive night Wednesday, pulling away late for a 95–87 win over Warner at The Furnace. The victory improved the Fire to 16–2 overall and 6–1 in Sun Conference play, while the Royals fell to 3–15 on the season.

From the opening tip, Southeastern set the tone with pace and efficiency, shooting nearly 58 percent in the first half while building a commanding 48–32 advantage at the break. The Fire scored consistently at all three levels, mixing interior touches with perimeter shooting and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities to create separation early.

Mylo Santos led the way with a game-high 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting, adding four rebounds and two steals in an assertive performance on both ends of the floor. Anthony Kangah added 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while Daivion Traylor added 12 points and four rebounds in just 21 minutes of action. LaDavian King provided a major lift off the bench, pouring in 19 points and pulling down nine rebounds, consistently attacking the rim and getting to the free-throw line.

Southeastern's depth again proved to be a difference-maker, as the Fire bench outscored Warner's reserves 29–17. Jarin Edwards chipped in nine points and two assists, while Jayson Nixon added 10 points and three assists, helping keep the offense flowing throughout the night.

Warner responded with a strong second half, shooting nearly 57 percent after the break and trimming the margin at several points behind a balanced scoring effort. Bryson Castillo led the Royals with 21 points, while Seth Childers and Marcel Pace each finished with 15. Despite the push, Southeastern answered every run, maintaining control with timely baskets and trips to the free-throw line.

The Fire finished the game shooting 54.5 percent from the field and knocked down 27 free throws, including several key makes in the final minutes to seal the result. Southeastern also held a 41–26 rebounding advantage, limiting Warner's chances to complete a comeback.

Southeastern returns to action at home on Saturday, January 17, 2026, hosting Florida College Falcons in a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at The Furnace.
