SARASOTA, Fla. -- SEU Women's Soccer remained unbeaten on the season with a 1-0 victory over the Mighty Banyans of New College of Florida Saturday at Bayfront Field. The result pushed the Fire to 4-0-1 on the year while recording their fourth shutout of the campaign.
The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute as
Grace Banker capitalized for her second goal of the season, providing all the offense SEU would need. Southeastern controlled possession and pace from the outset, outshooting the Mighty Banyans 18-6 and holding a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Fire's defensive unit was once again steady.
Ella Sebree worked a quiet first half in goal, while
Jordyn Velasco turned away two shots in the second frame to seal the clean sheet.
On the attack,
Madelyn Davidson,
Sara Irurozki, and
Olivia Hadad kept the pressure high, combining for nine of the Fire's 18 total attempts, with Wright in goal for NCF forced into seven saves.
The Fire now shift their focus to another road test, heading to Ave Maria University next Saturday for an 11 a.m. non-conference contest.
