LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire finished their work at The Fire Pit in going away fashion Saturday afternoon. Southeastern University finished its home wrestling schedule a perfect 6-0 in dual matches as it handled Keiser University, 38-12, behind four tech falls and a pair of falls.
Aaron Lucio (133) and Karl Brisker (141) scored a combined 43 points in 8:11 of action for a pair of opening tech falls and the Fire never looked back. Michael Shannon (157) and John Roberts (197) joined the first two teammates with tech fall, while Lane Reardon (174) and Gage Braun (285) pinned their foes with two more big victories.
SEU improved to 11-2 overall and its 6-0 home finish. The Fire won the six home matches by an average of 28.3 points (221-51 overall points) and posted a team average point total of 36.8 with a low of 26 and every other total of at least 35 points.

Lucio took the action to Keiser's Trevon Hawkins-Robertson with four first-period takedowns and enjoyed a 12-4 lead. He wrapped up the tech fall early in the second with another pair of takedowns and a 4-point near fall, 22-5, in 4:24.

Brisker mimicked his teammate in the second bout with five takedowns and his own 15-4 advantage. Brisker finished off Jusiah Fernandez faster with two final takedowns in the second frame for the 21-5 tech fall in 3:47.

After a close Keiser win, Shannon put more bonus team points on the scoreboard. Leading 6-1 after three minutes, Shannon increased the margin over Blaze Garcia to 10-2 before his best period with a final pair of takedowns and four-point near fall to end the matchup, 20-3, in 6:17

John Roberts continued the blazing opening periods of SEU grapplers against Jackson Geslin. Roberts recorded an early takedown and leveraged it into a trio of 4-point near fall combinations for a 15-0 tech fall at 2:37 of the first period.

Gage Braun showed his might quickly in the heavyweight bout over Aris Skarecki. Braun took down the Seahawk opponent and completed the fall on the third one only 1:01 into the match.

Joseph Kindred ran out of time in a comeback attempt against Blaze Garcia. The Keiser opponent broke a 1-1 tie with a takedown, before Kindred reversed the action and pulled within, 4-3. Garcia, though, was able to escape and slip past for the 5-3 decision.

Like Kindred, Vanderbilt battled hard in the final period only to come up just short. Rocco D'Ascoli held a 6-2 lead after two frames and extended it to 8-2 in the middle of the third. Vanderbilt scored a takedown for an 8-5 score, but he could not muster a comeback in a 9-5 loss.
SEU will have a week off before they travel to Mariettta, Ga. for the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships at Life University next Friday and Saturday.
