Fire Women Shut Out Warner

LAKELAND, Ga. – The Fire took the momentum of Tuesday's success into Wednesday. Southeastern University prevailed over Warner University, 4-0, in women's tennis action today.

Irene Lopez was the key cog for the Fire in the match. Lopez teamed with Carlotta Nonnis Marzano in the top doubles match and took care of Warner's Camila Matos and Victoria Belisario pair, 6-1. Lopez completed her third singles match first (6-0, 6-2) over Alizee Piette and scored the match-winning team point to end the match. Warner played with only four players so there was no match at the final two singles spots.

Faith Erickson and Neleah Neiberline were on their way to winning the second doubles for the Fire as they led 4-2 over Riley Cook and Piette and the match was left unfinished.

A similar unfinished state was the same fate for the three other singles bouts.

At the top singles, Isabella Bolivar Garces was in a tight, 6-6, match in the first set against Matos. Irene Parigi was on her way to a second singles win over Cook as she led 6-1 and 4-1. Isabella Forcella pulled out the opening second of the fourth singles, 7-5, over Belisario before the match was stopped.

Rebekah Schnatz and Isabelle Buhain were scheduled at third doubles, as well as, fifth and sixth singles, but did not have an opponent.

SEU heads back to the home courts tomorrow for a match-up with the University of Mary. First serve will be 1 p.m.
