KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NAIA has released their Daktronics Scholar-Athletes honorees for winter sports. Seventeen student-athletes were selected from the Fire basketball and wrestling team.
In order to qualify for the award, one must be a sophomore at their university, hold a 3.5 GPA or higher, and be at their institution for more than two semesters.
Wrestling led the way with ten student-athletes, followed by six for women's basketball, and one for men's basketball.Â
"Being a student and an athlete is tough," said Drew Watson, SEU's athletics director. "It takes special discipline to be able to have the kind of success in the classroom that these 17 have demonstrated. I'm proud of them for being committed to succeeding in all aspects of their experience here."
