No. 2 Fire Earn Convincing 32–7 Win at Renhardt

SEU wins eight of ten bouts to secure the victory

WALESKA, Ga. -- No. 2 SEU Wrestling opened its head-to-head slate with authority, rolling past Reinhardt 32-7 in the team's Appalachian Athletic Conference opener. The Fire controlled eight of ten matches, securing bonus points in five bouts to start the dual season at 1-0 overall.

At 133 pounds, top-ranked Aaron Lucio set the tone with an 11-6 decision over Zac Bosken to put SEU on the board. No. 2 Andrew Voiles followed at 141 with a win by fall over Maddox McArthur, and No. 4 Mario De La Torre continued the early surge at 149, earning a 15-8 decision against Garrett Pace.

Reinhardt's Joabe Araujo broke the streak at 157 with an 8-6 decision over Ryan Bennett, but the Fire quickly regained full control. No. 9 Jovon Mitchell delivered a technical fall at 165 over Hayden Santora.

No. 21 Ty Rodriguez produced the highlight of the day with a decision win over No. 18 Nathan Bukovich—avenging a loss from the previous weekend.

At 184, No. 15 August Batson rolled to a tech fall over Jonathon Paramore before No. 4 Gentry Smith dominated 197 with a major decision over Aaron Riner. Bryce Wheatley capped the Fire's scoring with a 4-1 decision at heavyweight against Caleb Pruitt.

The dual concluded at 125 pounds, where Reinhardt's Karmel Thompson topped Brodie Christmas by major decision for the Eagles' lone bonus-points win.

Head coach Travis Patrick praised the effort as "a solid all-around performance," noting that his team wrestled hard and controlled the pace throughout the night.

SEU now turns its attention to the Georgia Open, scheduled for Sunday, November 9 in Franklin Springs, Georgia.
