Men's Soccer Settles for 3-3 Draw

Early Three-Goal Lead Slips as SEU Stays Unbeaten in League Play

LAKELAND, Fla. -- SEU Men's Soccer battled to a 3-3 draw against Florida Memorial on Saturday at the SEU Soccer Field in a rollercoaster of a Sun Conference matchup that featured a tale of two halves.

The Fire wasted no time asserting control, delivering one of their most dynamic opening halves of the season. Jman Dieng opened the scoring in the fourth minute, assisted by Sebastian Riebartsch. Just three minutes later, Miguel Londono added the second goal of the match with an assist from Andrea Terracciano. Southeastern continued to control possession and apply pressure throughout the half, and Carson Cajuste extended the advantage in the 43rd minute off another assist from Riebartsch, sending SEU into halftime ahead 3-0.

Momentum shifted after the break as Florida Memorial mounted a comeback, scoring three times between the 50th and 66th minutes to level the match at 3-3. Southeastern regrouped and pressed forward in search of a late winner, generating several chances through the closing stages, including multiple corner kicks and close-range attempts, but couldn't find the finishing touch.

The Fire outshot the Lions 14-8 and held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks while maintaining composure in a physical contest that featured ten yellow cards. Riebartsch led the team with two assists, Terracciano added one, and Noah Murray-Hawkins made three saves in goal.

With the result, Southeastern moved to 3-3-3 overall and remains unbeaten in Sun Conference play (1-0-1).

The Fire return home on Thursday, October 9, to host SCAD-Savannah in another Sun Conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the SEU Soccer Field in Lakeland.
