LAKELAND, Fla. -- No. 24 SEU Women's Soccer delivered a dominant offensive showcase on Saturday morning, exploding for a season-high seven goals in a 7–2 rout of Webber International at the SEU Soccer Field.
From the opening whistle, the Fire set the tempo with relentless energy and crisp passing through the midfield. It took less than two minutes for Southeastern to get on the board when
Ariadna Lozano pounced on an early chance to record her sixth goal of the year and put the Fire in front 1–0. SEU continued to push the pace, and in the seventh minute,
Rebecca Laface doubled the advantage after
Sara Irurozki slipped a perfectly weighted pass through the defense for the assist.
The Fire maintained heavy possession throughout the half, controlling territory and piling on pressure with repeated corner kicks and quality looks on frame. After a string of near-misses,
Abby Ripple converted in the 30th minute—her first goal of the season—finishing a well-placed corner from
Emily Fux to make it 3–0.
Webber briefly halted SEU's momentum with a goal from Ana Buenrostro in the 40th minute, but Southeastern answered immediately. Less than 90 seconds later,
Olivia Hadad restored the three-goal margin, connecting on a ball from
Carmen Garcia Llanes, marking Garcia Llanes's first of two assists on the day. The Fire carried a commanding 4–1 lead into halftime, having outshot the Warriors 16–2 in the opening 45 minutes.
The second half saw more of the same from Southeastern—sharp ball movement, depth in the attack, and fresh legs off the bench keeping the pressure high. In the 64th minute, Irurozki got on the scoresheet herself, finishing off a feed from
Ramsey Watkins. Just seven minutes later,
Linn Adolfsson Funk notched her first collegiate goal by heading home a corner from Garcia Llanes to push the score to 6–1.
Watkins capped her standout day by burying a penalty kick in the 75th minute for her first goal of the season. Webber added a late goal in the 87th minute, but by then, SEU's lead was well out of reach.
In total, Southeastern held a 26–6 edge in shots and 9–2 in corners, showcasing both offensive depth and defensive control. The Fire rotated through three goalkeepers—
Madison Songer,
Ella Sebree, and
Jordyn Velasco—who combined for three saves.
The win lifted Southeastern to 8–2–2 overall and 3–1–0 in Sun Conference play, continuing their steady climb toward the top of the standings. SEU travels south for a marquee Sun Conference matchup against No. 1 Keiser on Wednesday, October 15 at 11 a.m. in West Palm Beach, Fla.
