Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – Jodi Mullins score 32 points to power Southeastern University to its ninth win in a row with an 86-70 Sun Conference victory over Ave Maria University at The Furnace.
After holding a 3-point lead after 10 minutes, Mulins doubled it in the first three second-quarter minutes and three minutes later netted the Fire's final eight points of the frame for a 39-25 lead. The senior added a dozen more points in the third period as SEU increased the advantage to as many as 27 points, on back-to-back Mullins and Mya Herman treys. Ave Maria made a late push and pulled within 10 points, 80-70, at 1:27 left, but SEU netted the final three buckets to seal the win.
With the victory, the Fire (17-3) stayed perfect in 2025. SEU improved to 7-1 in The Sun Conference and won its 12th meeting in a row over the Gyrenes in Lakeland. Ave Maria (7-12/3-5 Sun Conference) dropped its third game in a row in the series.
SEU shot 50% from the field (35-of-70) and forced 19 Ave Maria turnovers.
Mullins bested her 30-point performance from last Wednesday with a 32-point output tonight. She made 13-of-21 field goals, 3-of-5 from down town and all three of her foul shots. The senior netted 13 points in the second quarter and 12 in the third. She also had two assists and a rebound.
Anaya Coleman connected on all three of her triples and tallied 15 points to go with four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Grace Field added 11 points, five rebounds, three steals and a pair of blocked shots. Both Herman and Kassidy Jones chipped in nine points apiece and two assists. Jones also had two steals and two blocks.
Alley Haas hit a pair of 3-pointers for eight points, four rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Ariana Smuda grabbed six boards and had one bucket, while Rosa Sorribes handed out a team-high six assists and swiped two balls.
Leading for the Gyrenes, Colleen Shanahan had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Fire return to action on Saturday when they head to Miami Gardens for a showdown with the Lions. Tip-off is at 2 p.m..
