Box Score FOLEY, Ala. – The Fire were beaten today by #2 William Carey in the closing game of their trip Alabama, 9-0.
For the third time in four games, SEU gave up a goal in the opening ten minutes, this time giving up two to the Crusaders, as Karen Vilau (8:30) and Christina Salmon (9:42) found the back of the net. Salmon added a goal at 14:33 to put William Carey up 3-0.
SEU's defense tightened the rest of the half, and the Crusaders took the 3-0 lead into half time, out-shooting the Fire 12-3 in the opening 45 minutes.
While the shot advantage for William Carey was only 13-11 in the second half, the Fire could not get anything consistent going on offense.
The Crusaders added two more goals from Salmon, another goal from Vilau, and tallies from Meg han Romines and Valeria Barajas (2) to put the game away.
Ariadna Lozano led the Fire with four shots, while
Amelia Hammond added three shots on the day.
SEU gets back to work this week in preparation for a trip to Ave Maria next Saturday in the Sun Conference opener for both teams. Kickoff is at 1 p.m..
