Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Fire scored two goals in the second half and beat Savannah College of Art & Design tonight, 2-0.
The game was a defensive battle as the teams traded shots and corners to a 0-0 draw after 45 minutes of play. About 10 minutes into the second half, Kory Nekoloff was fed a pass from Liam Fisch through the Bees defense and buried the ball in the bottom left corner of the net to break the tie. The Fire defense took over and held off seven Bees shots, two on goal, in the next 25 minutes. Then, Enrico Lazzari headed the ball off the SCAD keeper and put the rebound in the net for the insurance goal with under eight minutes left to play.
"Tonight was a great team win against a very good Sun Conference opponent," said head coch Clay Roberts. "We were organized, creative, and executed our plan on the road.This is good win to build off of and I'm very proud of my team tonight."
With the victory, the Fire improve to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1 in Sun Conference play, while the Bees go to 3-3-2 and 1-1 in The Sun.
SEU out-shot the home team by a 15-11 margin and 5-3 in shots on goal. Goalie Esteban Navarrete turned away all three of the shots he faced on net for the 90 minutes.
SEU returns to action on Wednesday night, when they host Polk County rival Warner University. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
