In a recent release by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), five Fire athletes have been selected to the CSC Academic All-District At-Large teams.
From wrestling, Trace Braun was chosen. Braun finished 24-10 on the season in individual matches, coming in seventh at NAIA Nationals in the 165-pound class helping the Fire to place fourth overall.
Matthew Soucinek was selected from the men's golf team. Soucinek turned in three first place finishes in eleven events, at the Gyrene Invitational, SEU Invitational, and Skyhawk Invitational. Due to his successful season, he was named NAIA PING First Team All-American.
Marlie Smit, Maria Stephens, and Madelyn Campbell were selected from the women's golf team. The three helped the Fire to be ranked ninth in the NAIA, and finished eighth overall at NAIA Nationals. All three were awarded First-Team All-Sun Conference honors, and Smit was named NAIA Third-Team All-American.
Smit and Soucinek have been named finalists for CSC Academic All-America Teams. The teams will be released July 16 and 17.
