Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla. - Southeastern took the series over Webber International this weekend after splitting the doubleheader Saturday.
The Fire dropped game one of the day after a walkoff single from Samathana Hudson scored a run. Game one went into an eighth inning after the first seven innings went scoreless.
Claire Sekinger pitched game one, throwing ten strikeouts and walking three batters, only giving up two hits.
In game two, the Fire got things started early thanks to a Lauren Sekinger base hit RBI, scoring Kaitlyn Quillen in the top of the second. Chapel Cunningham then singled to right field, scoring Hailey Brooks to take the lead 2-0.
Two more runs were scored in the fourth off of a Webber error.
SEU took three runs in the fifth with a two-RBI single from Ella Brooks to score Chloe Baker and Hailey Brooks. Alex Hilton then scored on an error during a stolen base.
The Fire offense came away with 10 hits in the final game. Lauren Sekinger with three, Raylei McKinney and Ella Brooks with two, and Quillen, Cunningham, and Sanders all with one.
Freshman Edan Playa picked up her 13th win of the season, moving her record to 13-2. She threw three strikeouts, walked one batter, and gave up three hits and no earned runs.
The Fire will travel to Brunswick, Ga. next weekend for another three game series against College of Coastal Georgia.
