LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern University Head Football Coach
Adam Waugh and his staff signed 32 players to letters of intent to join the Fire for the 2024 season.
The class includes five student-athletes that have already enrolled and will participate in spring practices with the team.
I am very excited about the 2024 Signing Class," said Waugh. "This is the first full recruiting cycle that we have had, and the coaching staff has done an excellent job of finding talent and developing relationships around the state of Florida. This class addresses many of our roster needs, but it was also important for us to find the best available players to create quality depth on the roster."
All but three signees are from the state of Florida including two from Polk County. Former All-Polk running back Jocquet Jiles comes home after spending four seasons at NCAA Division I Samford and Winter Haven tackle Cedrick Carter inked to join the team in the fall.
"In addition to being excellent football players, we feel that this class will embrace the culture of SEU both on and off the field," said Waugh. "It was important to us to find well-rounded young men that are willing to approach academics and spiritual development in the same manner in which they chase success on the field."
Being a member of the NAIA, recruiting for the 2024 season doesn't end today for Southeastern as the Fire are still able to add to the roster.
"While the majority of the class signed today, there are some remaining spots to fill with both high school players still deciding and college transfers that will look to move later in the spring and summer," said Waugh.
The Fire are coming off of a 5-5 season a year ago and will begin spring practices at the end of the month.
"We are very proud and excited that these signees chose to make SEU their college home, and we look forward to getting to work with the Class of 2024," said Waugh.
