Softball Set For Gulf Coast Invitational

GULF SHORES, Ala.- With Fire softball off to a 9-5 start on the season, they will head to Gulf Shores, Ala. for a five-game set starting March 1st.

Softball is coming off a 3-3 weekend, splitting a doubleheader with Grand View University, and a four-game split versus the University of British Columbia.

Through 14 games, the Fire are hitting .313 as a team, led by Ella Brooks, who hits a team best .475 with eight walks. In the circle, the Fire hold their opponents to a .254 batting average, with a 1.93 ERA.

Starting Friday, Southeastern will play a doubleheader against LSU Alexandria, followed by William Woods University. LSUA holds a 7-1 record, and has three games to play before their meeting with the Fire. The Generals were last seen in the NAIA World Series back in 2017, and hold a strong case this year, hitting .368, slugging .544 with eight home runs.

William Woods is 4-5 through nine games, dropping a close game to #17 Ottawa University. They will play one game before seeing Southeastern, and hit .274 as a team, driving in 38 runs, with a 3.03 ERA in the circle.

March 2nd will see the Fire in another doubleheader, this time against Lindsey Wilson College (3-3) and the #12 ranked University of Mobile (9-3). Southeastern will be looking for their first win in program history versus Lindsey Wilson, as well as looking for revenge against Mobile, who swept the Fire in a doubleheader last season.

The final game of the invitational will see the Fire taking on the University of Texas A&M at San Antonio Jaguars. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams, with the Jaguars currently looking at a 3-3 record, hitting .305 with a 4.67 ERA.

First pitch between the Fire and Generals will be this Friday at 6 P.M., followed shortly after against William Woods University at 8 P.M.
