LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern wrapped up its eighth Sun Conference regular season title in nine seasons with a 74-52 win over Warner on Saturday night at The Furnace for its 20
th win of the season.
It was the 10
th time in 11 years the Fire have reached the 20-win mark.
Southeastern ended the first quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 17-10 lead into the second. In the second, the Fire forced nine turnovers and held the Royals to 4-of-13 from the field and built the lead to 18 at the intermission.
The Royals cut the deficit in half with 6:18 remaining but Southeastern answered with the next 13 points of the game, forcing turnovers on all five possessions that followed.
A pair of seniors scored all 13 of the points with
Anja Knoflach with five and
Bekki Kalaydjiev scoring eight.
Kalaydjiev led all scorers with 27, going 10-14 from the field and had four rebounds and two steals.
Kiki Britzmann added 14 points, three rebounds and two steals to the winning effort. Knoflach finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Fire receive a first-round bye in The Sun Conference Tournament and will host the semifinal game on Friday against either St. Thomas or Webber International.
