Box Score DILLON, Mont. – Southeastern University used an 11-0 run spanning the first and second quarters and pulled away from the University of Montana Western to win 79-46 in women's basketball action.
An Alley Haas free throw started the Fire's momentum-changing run. Leading 13-12, Haas made the free throw and a Grace Field layup ended the first quarter before SEU added the first eight second-quarter points and doubled up the home team, 24-12, at 6:51.
After a 15-point halftime advantage, SEU increased its lead to 22 points by the end of the third. It didn't get much better for the Bulldogs in the fourth, as the Fire closed out the game with a 23-12 run.
Highlighting the night, SEU (4-1) made 29-of-60 field goal attempts, out rebounded the Bulldogs 46-33, and swiped 19 steals.
The starting trio of Jodi Mullins, Field and Mya Herman combined for 53 of the team's 79 points. Mullins connected on 7-of-14 shots for 21 points with three rebounds and two assists. Field put eight of her 11 shots through the net for 20 points and grabbed 10 boards for a double-double, and added four steals. Herman drained a pair of triples as part of her 12 points and five steals.
Off the bench, Anaya Coleman added six points and six rebounds. Both Rosa Sorribes and Courtni Demorest each chipped in six points and combined for five more steals.
The Bulldogs had three players total nine points apiece.
The Fire complete their busy three-game weekend in Montana Sunday afternoon when they take on NCAA DI University of Montana in an exhibition contest starting at 5 p.m. EST..
