MARIETTA, Ga. – The Fire claimed their third win in a row to finish November. Southeastern University finished with a 9-0 run and took down host Life University, 67-58, in women's basketball action.
Leading 58-54 with 4:49 left in the contest, SEU got points from four different players, including a Courtni Demorest trey, and pushed the margin to 13 points only 1:48 later. Life scored the final four points, but it did not come close to getting back in the contest in the remaining three minutes.
Amaya Coleman took her turn at leading the SEU attack with 7-of-11 field goals for 20 points to go with three rebounds and three assists. Jodi Mullins had an efficient 7-for-8 afternoon, dropping 17 points and handing out a pair of helpers.
Grace Field cleaned the boards for a team-high nine rebounds to go with her seven points, three steals and two assists. Mya Herman added six points, two assists and two steals. Behind a pair of treys, Demorest hit for eight points and clutched four boards. Ariana Smuda chipped in four points and five rebounds..
Brionna Sims led the Running Eagles with 17 points.
With the win, the Fire improve their record to 8-2 overall. Life fell to 5-4 in the two teams' first ever match-up.
The Fire return to action on Friday, December 6 when they head to Lebanon, Tenn. to play in the Rosa Stokes Classic. SEU opens against host Cumberland University. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. EST.
