WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Southeastern took a 3-0 win on the road over Sun Conference opponent Keiser University to move to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in the SUN.
A great day offensively fueled the Fire sweep over the Seahawks, hitting .304 for the match, and .414 in set one.Â
Cambry Pope led the Fire with 12 kills and 16 digs, hitting .458 on the day. Emilia Harding also had 12 kills. Tatyana Lyons and Grace Petty had eight kills each.Â
Alexandra Postlethwaite led the team in assists with 37.Â
The Fire took set one by a score of 25-22 behind a match-high .414 hitting percentage. The score remained evenly matched with 11 total ties throughout the set. SEU went on a handful of runs to take the lead for the remainder of the set, winning after a kill by Emilia Harding and Keiser service error.Â
SEU never gave up the lead in set two, starting with an early 3-0 run. It was followed by two kills by Petty and one by Pope to give Southeastern the 12-6 advantage and force a Seahawks timeout. Keiser could never regain momentum and dropped set two 25-19 to the Fire. Southeastern hit .375 in the set and had two blocks.Â
Set three was a similar story, with Southeastern never giving up the lead. The Fire jumped ahead 3-0 off three Seahawk attack errors, followed by a Harding kill and a Lyons kill. Keiser called a timeout with the score 15-7 and followed up with a three-point run. Chapel Cunningham answered with a kill from Postlethwaite. At the end of the set, Keiser went on another three-point run to bring it to 24-23, forcing a Southeastern timeout. Tatyana Lyons answered with a kill from Postlethwaite, winning the third and final set 25-23.Â
The Fire will take on Ave Maria at home next Wednesday at 7 p.m.Â
