Three Match Week Ahead for Fire Volleyball

LAKELAND, Fla.- A busy week for Southeastern volleyball will consist of three contests including two Sun Conference matches.
 
The Fire (8-2, 1-0 SUN) will begin the week on the road on Wednesday as they take on Webber International at 7 p.m. On Thursday, the Fire will host Trinity College of Florida for their home opener at 6 p.m. and will end the week on Saturday with another home contest against receiving votes St. Thomas University at 2 p.m.
 
Southeastern is coming off a four-set win in their SUN opener last week against Coastal Georgia. Grace Petty earned SUN Attacker of the Week honors after a season-high 16 kills against the Mariners while Chapel Cunningham earned Defender of the Week honors after recording a career-best seven blocks.
 
Collectively, the Fire average 12.6 kills per set, 15.9 digs per set, and lead the SUN in blocks per set with 2.86. Chapel Cunningham and Tatyana Lyons sit at the top of the conference in blocks per set with 1.21 for Cunningham and 1.14 for Lyons. Emilia Harding also sits in the top five in blocks at fourth with one per set.
 
Grace Petty has recorded a double-double in the last five contests and leads the team in kills with 103 as well as digs with 128. Petty has also recorded a team-best 12 service aces. Setter Alexandra Postlethwaite has recorded 199 assists for an average of 5.85 per set.
 
Webber International will begin the week with a 6-5 overall record and 1-1 SUN record after dropping their last contest to St. Thomas in three sets. The Warriors average 11.3 kills, 14 digs, 2.3 blocks, and 1.2 service aces per set. The offense is led by Nadia Reid who averages 2.69 kills per set while Ana Clara Arajo averages a team-best 4.63 assists per set. Defensively, Reid also leads the team in digs with 2.5 per set while Savanna Wilhite leads the conference in blocks with 42.
 
The Fire and the Warriors split their two contests last season with the Fire taking a three-set win in their last meeting.
 
Trinity College of Florida holds a current 1-4 record and are coming off a 3-0 loss to Florida National. Cheyenne Whitehead currently leads the team in kills with 27 and digs with 38 while Cora Burnett leads the team in assists with 33. Temple Jones has recorded a team-high 12 blocks.
 
The Bobcats of St. Thomas match the Fire's 8-2 record and are coming off a three-set win over the Warriors. Collectively, the Bobcats average 13 kills per set, 1.9 aces per set, 15.3 digs per set, and 1.8 blocks per set. Amanda Allende leads the Bobcat offense with 123 kills (3.84 per set) which ranks second in the conference while Payton Bertke currently sits second in the conference in assists with 316. Defensively, Biance Grassi also sits second in the SUN with 175 total digs while Sana Dennis' 30 blocks ranks second as well.
 
Two of the three meetings between the Fire and the Bobcats last season went into a tiebreaker set including the Fire's five-set loss in the SUN Tournament semifinals.
