MOBILE, Ala.—Southeastern's best men's tennis season in program history came to a close with a 4-2 loss in the NAIA National Championship Quarterfinal to Tennessee Wesleyan.
Things started strong as the Fire won the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 2 from
Federico Barbon and
Victor Olivera and a 6-4 win at No. 3 from
Guido Luna and
Enrique Martinez to clinch it.
Southeastern won the doubles point in both of its national tournament matches and won 16 of the 23 doubles points this season.
The Fire got another point from
Christian Garay at Flight 1 Singles 6-4, 6-4, but the Bulldogs picked up wins at 2, 3, 5, and 6. Barbon had the lead in the third set at Flight 4 at 3-1.
Southeastern set a program record for wins with 18.
