MOBILE, Ala.—Southeastern is one of the last eight remaining women's tennis teams in the NAIA after a 4-1 win over the University of the Cumberlands on Wednesday in the NAIA National Tournament.
The sixth-seeded Fire scored the doubles point over the 11
th-seeded Patriots with a 6-2 win by
Martina Picardi and
Simone Simas at Flight 2 and a 6-1 win at Flight 3 by
Neleah Neiberline and
Irene Lopez.
Micah Sypert overcame a first set loss in a tiebreaker in her Line 2 singles match by taking the second 6-2 and third 6-0. Neiberline won 6-2, 6-2 at Line 5 and Lopez won her Line 6 match 6-4, 6-3.
Southeastern will face third-seeded Xavier (La.) on Thursday at 10 a.m. Eastern with the winner facing either St. Thomas or Georgia Gwinnett in Friday's national semifinal.
