CLERMONT, Fla.—Southeastern put together a strong showing, highlighted by four season best times and the top two 110 Hurdles times in the NAIA this season at the PURE Athletics Spring Elite Meet.
Davonte Vanterpool ran a career-best 13.73 to win the 110 Hurdles on Saturday to record the top time in the NAIA this season. That time is one-hundredth of a second faster than the NAIA National Championship Meet Record which was set in 2003. Vanterpool also ran a 13.74 in the prelims.
Darion Carter was just off that mark in second at 13.76 to post the second-fastest time nationally.
Davien Worrels was the runner-up in the 400 Meters at 48.03 and
Joseph Taylor was just off the NAIA standard with a fifth-place finish in 48.81. Worrels was also sixth in the 100 Meters at 10.48.
Irmiris Mendez was eighth in the 200 Meters in a season-best time of 24.64 and was the runner-up in the 100 Hurdles in 14.05, another season-best.
Oluwafikayomi Lawrence placed second in the 400 Meters in 57.10 and
Miyah Ford was third in the Triple Jump at 10.41 meters.
The Fire will head to NAIA Nationals at Indiana Wesleyan University on May 24
th.
