Win Over No. 8 Ranked Eagles Caps Off 4-1 Weekend at Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala.- The No. 4 ranked Southeastern softball team is leaving the Gulf Shores Invitational with four wins over NAIA Top 25 ranked opponents after downing No. 8 ranked Central Methodist today by a score of 3-1.

The Eagles struck first with a run in the bottom of the first after back-to-back two-out hits including an RBI double into left field.

Southeastern grabbed all three of their runs in the top of the fourth after two-out singles by Lauren Sekinger and Haleigh Harrell and a walk to Riley Sanders loaded the bases for Jamie Mead. Mead then drew a walk to tie the contest at one as the Fire would grab two more on the very next play after an error brought both Sanders and Harrell home.

The 3-1 lead would hold for the remainder of the contest as the Fire concluded the Gulf Shores Invitational 4-1.

Erica Stahl concluded the contest 3-4 at the plate while Sekinger also posted multiple hits, going 2-4.

On the mound, Claire Sekinger moved to 4-2 after a complete game where she allowed just one run on seven hits.

The Fire will next return home to take on Calumet College of St. Joseph on Tuesday at 1 and 3 p.m.
