Fire Host Five Contests this Week

LAKELAND, Fla.- After their third Sun Conference series win last weekend, No. 17 ranked Southeastern softball will host Thomas University for a midweek SUN series and will end the week with a non-conference doubleheader against Florida National on Friday at 2 and 4 p.m.
 
Tuesday will kick off the series between the Fire (18-9, 8-1 SUN) and the Night Hawks (12-14, 3-6 SUN) with a 4 p.m. contest and the doubleheader following on Wednesday at 1 and 3 p.m.
 
Southeastern currently sits at the top of the SUN standings with an 8-1 record. Offensively, the Fire have posted a .304 batting average and have outscored their opponents 43-12. Chapel Cunningham holds a current .455 batting average against conference opponents and leads the SUN in stolen bases with 15. Leah Gonzalez has driven in eight runs in conference play.
 
Autumn Hunter and Claire Sekinger have proven to be two of the top arms in the SUN with Sekinger leading the conference in strikeouts at 101 and tied for second in wins with 10. In conference play, Sekinger holds a 1.31 ERA through 37.1 innings while Hunter has allowed just three earned runs in 21.1 innings for a 0.98 ERA.
 
The Night Hawk offense has been slightly quieted in SUN play, hitting .249 and .311 against non-conference competitors. Averie Sheppard holds a commanding .533 average in SUN contests with 16 hits and is a perfect 12-12 in stolen bases while Grace Hodges sits at .389 in conference play.
 
The pitching staff has combined for a 3.44 ERA against SUN teams with Amber Griffin tallying a 3.40 ERA in a team-high 22.2 innings. Dale Elmore has yet to allow an earned run through 11.2 innings of work in conference play.
 
The Conquistadors (19-11) hold a collective .272 batting average and average 5.2 runs scored per contest. Yleisha Perez leads the way offensively with a .379 average and .495 slugging percentage while Ana De Oliveira Obando leads in run production with 20 RBI's.
 
Dakota Kulis and Jona Goolsby have split time on the mound with Kulis recording a team-high 96 innings with a 2.84 ERA and 10-5 record in 13 complete games. Goolsby has tossed 92 innings and holds a current 2.59 ERA.
