LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern battled No. 1 Keiser on Saturday, taking their first Sun Conference loss of the season in a 5-2 match.
It marked the first time Southeastern had won a match against Keiser since the 2016 season.
Keiser won all three doubles matches, then scored wins at the first, sixth, and fourth singles flights to clinch the match.
Beatrice Letizia got the Fire on the board with a 6-0, 6-2 win at Line 2, and
Micah Sypert ended the day on a positive note, coming up with a win as the last one on the court. The Freshman took the first set of her No. 3 singles match against sixth-ranked Ksenija Vujacic 6-3 then dropped the second by the same score before winning the tiebreaker 11-9.
The Fire are back in action on Tuesday at home against St. Olaf College at noon.
